A Review of The Girl and the Mountain

 A

Review

 of

The

Girl

and

the

Mountain

By Mark Lawrence

The Girl and the Mountain is the Second Book of Ice. It beats out its predecessor The Girl and the Stars, which I enjoyed for its magic system and driven protagonist. We again see Yaz in an unforgiving climate but this time in a less safe situation than ever. The previous books magic system continuous and is ease to follow. There are many surprises throughout the second book and the conditions of this book's world makes you feel for the characters.

The author provides an update at the books beginning of its predecessor. I found this useful and was grateful Mark Lawrence didn't weave it into the story like other authors do. And thanks to news of this book coming out so soon after I finished the previous one, remaining within the same world felt good. I like books set in a frozen world, and Yaz's world, would freeze a full canteen.

I give this book Four Stars.
