A Review of Blacktop Wasteland

 A

Review

of

Blacktop Wasteland

By

S.A. Cosby

Four Stars

This was the first work of fiction outside of science fiction and fantasy that I thoroughly enjoyed. The hype for this book is well earned. Cosby's characters feel real and in the case of the book's main protagonist very relatable. Bug is a character that goes through high risk situations and the villains he faces are truly terrifying. The pacing of this book was the fastest I've ever seen. The action within this book is well detailed and thrilling.

I can only find issue with a few things. I know there are multiple points of views in the story, but at times there seemed to be frequent head hopping. I found myself only slightly confused by this. There was a clue towards the ending I figured out instantly which once I read to where it lead my eyes rolled.

Inconclusion, I can't thank Mr. Cosby enough for writing this book. It makes me want to read more crime genre novels. I highly recommend this book and give it four stars.

Don't Worry Just Write

 Don't Worry

Just Write

Writers are by nature worriers. They want every word and character to be loved. They don't want people to tear their story apart for its content and to just have people enjoy what they're reading. The world has changed drastically, especially when in comes to entertainment. Entertainment is no longer an escape these days, but a way to prove a point or see yourself in what you watch and read. I'm here to tell every writer to not worry. To place your focus on creating the best story you can. Here is a list of things not to worry about as a writer.

1. Whether writing fantasy or science fiction drawing from our world's history is a must. Whether its a characters features or culture draw from what fascinates you and make it your own. Some might argue against this but remind them its all fiction. Just write. Create from what you've learned and make something new.

2. When unpublished you may feel your falling behind other writers. I've had this feeling too. Let go of this feeling. You're not in competition with other writers. The best way to fight this while writing is to use social media sparingly. Remember, people only post what they want you to see.

3. Another way to just write and not worry about other writer is to just enjoy the books you like to read. What your writing isn't a finished product, so don't compare your work in progress to something you bought to read. Believe it or not even a full published book will have some errors which means nothing is 100%.

4. If you're concerned about having time to write or being distracted find yourself a routine. You love writing and want to see your story on shelves. Developing a routine will put your mind at ease.
