Dune
Dune was written by Frank Herbert and is an amazing science fiction story. I did however have difficulty getting through it. Its characters were interesting, especially the Baron, but it seemed after about three hundred pages there was some dry spots. I found myself not understanding several parts of it despite Frank Herbert's well placed context. When I sifted my way through the dry spot I found great writing.
As for the parts that I struggled to understand, it was more on the fact that its main protagonist, Paul, seemed to know everything. When he faced what would be considered new experiences it was as if had already experienced it. I wasn't a fan of this. He faced some struggle, but felt emotionally distant. The secondary characters from his mother, Lady Jessica to the Baron possessed more emotion and were easier to follow.
I would regardless of my issues with this book recommend it to other readers. Dune possess a rich world worth exploring. It's book one of a series I hope to finish. Its first book left me eager for more.
