A Book Review
This book immediately deserves five stars for the book cover alone. I'm hooked as a John Gwynne fan. I've already bought the second book. The first and second are part of a trilogy called, The Bloodsworn. My favorite character is Orka. Her point of view chapters make me feel for her and cheer her on. I like the fact that she is older. I'm so used to young protagonists. It's a nice change.
Concerning what I didn't like about this book is as follows. I felt that the other two point of view characters weren't active enough in their chapters. They were more of a witness than a player. There was repetitive use of certain words or things that kick started my inner editor. I grew to ignore them in time.
In conclusion, this story has earned five stars and it would be an insult to go below that number. Gwynne is a brilliant writer. This story made me love Vikings and Viking culture.
