A Return to Self-publishing

My experience since December 2023 has taught me so much. It has shown how capable I actually am in regards to publishing on my own. It has lead to the use of tools that provide access my publisher had for distribution. The return to self publishing can't exactly be summed up. I can say first that I didn't do it alone.

I had several author friends help in this decision. They provided the confidence and tools I didn't possess before. These authors have stood by my side before and since my decision to leave my publisher.

I was miserable with my publisher for several reasons. Being with them hasn't turned me off to traditional publishing, but it has delayed my wish to pursue it again. Leaving my publisher has placed all the responsibility on me. I think I might prefer it that way.

I think being in charge of what happens to my stories is why I returned to self publishing. I can make certain the cover, formatting, editing, and promotion are done properly. If life gets in the way there won't be a deadline to think about either.
