A Review of The Handmaid's Tale

 A

Review

of

The

Handmaid's

Tale

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood is yet another book from decades back that I've enjoyed. It's well written with great pros and emotion on every page. You can sense how trapped the story's protagonist feels. There are times I wish I could free Offred from the world she's trapped within.

I do have some issues with this book. The first is the lack of quotation marks. I often had to tell myself a person was speaking. I sometimes thought I was reading a character's inner thoughts.

I don't mind first person perspective, but it is beyond annoying to see it in present tense. The use of present tense does work well with the story. I'm willing to admit that much. Its my logical, and sometimes, pain in the butt brain that can't digest present tense well. Its existence has however helped in making this book a good read and number one across the globe.
