I found this story almost like a tractor beam. It pulled me in with every turn of the page. I worried about the characters. Whether they would survive or run into trouble. The moments trouble came were frightening, especially under the circumstances. A lot of these comments may sound basic, but this is the first novel I have read where the stakes were realistic. There were no dragons, swords, or evil wizards. Just the elements and constant threat of starvation.
